Cariss Printing Orders Australia’s
First Printmaster PM 52
Blair Cariss of Cariss Printing in Strathmore, in Melbourne’s
Northern suburbs, says of their purchase of the PM 52-5-
P at PacPrint’05: “We are very pleased with our decision to
install the new PM 52 five colour with perfector. With the
increase of four colour process jobs and pressure from our
customers for shorter turnaround times, the PM 52 will
enable us to finish the job in one pass instead of two or three
and get the job out even faster. The standard spec PM 52 is
fairly basic, but with additional accessories we have added like
Auto plate, Auto blanket and roller wash, Prinect Classic
Centre, numbering and perforating and Prinect prepress
interface the press approaches the Speedmaster except for
running speed.” (13,000 vs 15,000 sph).
“As the PM 52-5-P technology is not that dissimilar to the
SM 52-2 that we are replacing there will be hardly any down
time as our printer will only need to learn a few operational
basics.”
The PM 52-5-P will be linked to the company’s Heidelberg
Prosetter CtP system enabling files to be sent directly from prepress
to press reducing make ready times.
Cariss Printing has been in operation for 26 years and
employs a small team of seven. Run by brothers Michael and
Frank Cariss, and Michael’s son Blair, the company believes
the installation of the new press will further streamline
production and drive efficiencies enabling them to produce
print more profitably in the future.
